Dissolving The Ganesha Idol In Water After The Celebration Of Ganesha Chaturthi?

According to Hindu mythology, Hindus celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi to commemorate Lord Ganesha's rebirth. After ten days of grand celebration, people bid farewell to God Ganesha by immersing him in water, which is known as Visarjan.

Why do People Immerse God Ganesha in Water?

After remembering his birthday and celebrating magnificently, people collect all the Ganesh idols, carry them in a truck, and immerse them in a vast lake or pond. The Vedas describe how to perform the pooja and give instructions to do Visarjan. People have followed this since ancient times. There are many reasons behind it, which are:

Celebration Of Ganesha Chaturthi

The main reason that experts say is that the celestial bodies appear on this earth when we perform the puja for the idols, and they stay in that form and accept the worship. People should worship and respect them until they remain in that form. They should perform the puja elaborately and continue to do so till they stay on the idol, and you have to devote all your time to the idol form. It is important to follow all the pooja vidhi without fail while doing Ganesha pooja.

Another reason is that humans cannot tolerate the power of the Gods if they remain on the idol. The Gods should be pleased by your worship and go to their abode. So people drown the idols in the water, saying, "you come next year to give blessings."
The idol made of clay may develop a crack or break due to the weather conditions or by handling them. The idols with some fault or defect may have adverse effects, and all the purpose of welcoming God will prove fatal.

You have to remove the old soil in the lake or well to maintain fresh water. Also, diffusing the clay will do the same purpose. Therefore, clay idols are made to drown in the water to clean the environment. It would help the fishes and other water creatures to live.

It also symbolizes that the matter made of earthly elements cannot remain in this world forever. The body of humans is of earthly elements, and it vanishes. The celebration reminds humans of their birth and death cycle, which occur according to their activities.

People perform Visarjan to Lord Ganesha and also Goddess Kali. Nowadays, the statues contain environmentally friendly biodegradable materials that help the soil. Some of the sculptures have seeds implanted in them. The plants will start growing if you put them in the ground. But the paints or enamel and POP material may ruin the environment. If you immerse them in the lake or pond, it will kill the water creatures living inside. It would become poisonous, destroying the other animals and also humans. You cannot use the water from the lake or pond. Since water is precious, you cannot contaminate the water. So, it is better to buy the pure clay idol for Vinayaka Chaturthi . You can take a resolution that you would preserve the environment and make it healthy by celebrating Ganesha Chaturthi  using pure clay idols. This determination would please God and bestow you with total prosperity and health.
