The Science behind Chandi Homam

During a Homa, the priest or the pundit invokes the presence of the deity by chanting the Mantras associated with the deity. This ritual is to invite the deity, in this case, Goddess Chamundi, to the place where the Homa is being performed. Fire is one of the Panchabhootas (5 elements) which we can see with our eyes. So, fire is the medium in the Homam to invoke the deity’s presence. As the first step, the priest energizes the place of Homam. They do this through the medium of air. Air is also one of the Panchabhootas. During this process, powerful Mantras are chanted, which energizes the fire of Homa Kunda. The energy that is built in the fire is then transferred to the water. This is the third Panchabhoota that is kept in a kalasa or pot. The priest sprinkles this holy water on the person on whose behalf the Homa is being performed. By doing so, he transfers the blessings of Goddess Durga onto the devotee.

The belief is that all your prayers can come true if you perform a Homa like Chandika Homam, such is its power.
